Vigon International, a chemical manufacturing company, needed custom-made water globes for corporate giveaways for this year’s holidays. They sought the services of Brand Spirit to put together custom-made bespoke water globes using their mascot—the Yipppeee Guy—as the items’ centerpiece.
About the Mascot
The clients’ mascot was conceptualized during an earlier ad campaign they created to promote one of their new services. The mascot represented the company’s philosophy of providing simple customer experiences while creating a fun work environment for their employees.
The mascot’s launch was so successful that our client decided to carry it over to their year-end holiday celebrations. The company even had squeeze toys featuring the Yipppeee! Guy produced during the earlier part of the year.
The Customization Process
Standard production time for approved and final designs takes between 90 to 120 days so our client was wise to order to place the order much earlier than they needed them.
When ordering fully customized gifts, it’s important to remember to:
- Factor in the back and forth of design revisions and approvals
- Production and shipping of sample orders for final details
- Actual production time (depending on the size of your order)
- Customized Packaging (as an option)
- Shipping (the water globes were internationally shipped via boat from China and then transferred to trucks to get to the final address). This can add 35 – 45 days for transit time.
Note that the shipping for these globes had to be by sea because the shipping liquid snow globes is prohibited to ship via air.
Molded & Painted to Perfection
Part of the challenge of creating bespoke business gifts is that everything needs to be consistent and follow branding standards.
Brand Spirit worked closely with the client to ensure complete satisfaction —starting from the finer details of their mascot’s face to its pose. A few sample images of the molds were sent to the client for approval/editing before the final approved painted pre-production sample was air shipped to the client for final production approval.
These customized water domes or snow globes can come with glitter and/or faux snow, but Vigon simply requested glitter so that it resembled their animated ad that also involved visuals of sparkles.
The entire process took a total several months from order placement to final product delivery. Suffice to say, the client was excited and delighted to finally see the finished products and are now all set to surprise the team with this holiday-inspired custom giveaway.
